Meet Me Tomorrow at The Great Iowa Book Event

Brandon Thornley unzipped his jacket and removed the GPS device. Following the frost-covered trail, he reached the wooded sanctuary that was home to the tools of his real trade. He thought he could give it up and live the life of an honest man, but the hunger for killing was too strong and couldn’t be masked any longer. He forced himself through the dense tree branches, barely feeling their backlash on his exposed face and neck. A few steps further, he stopped in front of a large pine tree. The computer-generated voice from the GPS, which indicated he had reached his destination, startled him.

So tomorrow, what is your destination? If you’re in the Des Moines area, put the Southridge Mall on your GPS, and come meet me and many other great authors at The Great Iowa Book Event. From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., we will be talking with readers and signing books. And if you haven’t picked up your copy of 3:16 yet, there will be plenty on hand. Look foward to seeing you there!

Happy Veterans Day and Operation Ebook Drop

Posted in A Writer's Life, Just For Fun!, New Releases with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 11-11-2010 by jeffreymartinsnovels

Today, we talk about Veterans Day and what it personally means to me. First, for all the Veterans out there, this is your day. I know the sacrifices given to keep America safe, and kudos to my fellow brothers and sisters in  arms (politically correct you see…lol.)

Okay, as most my fans know or should know, I was in the armed forces, and served in the United States Marine Corps.  Yes, a few good men and women (Yes, politically correct again.) I spent six years in the Corps, and two of them  were spent roaming around in the sand. You all know what I mean. So, during  my spurts of “down” time, I spent most of it gobbling up any reading material at my disposal. A wonderful novel kept my mind busy enough to not always focus on the worries of  where I was and what impending doom was around the corner.

It’s no accident some of my characters in my recent works have some military background, and I intend to keep creating  these types of protagonists/antagonists because it’s a part of me and my experiences.

With that in mind, there is a program for all of the armed service members who are overseas and don’t have access to your local Barnes and Noble or Borders. Operation Ebook Drop is a great program where the troops can enjoy a great book by a multitude of authors through the modern technology of e-book readers. I am fortunate to be a part of this, as my novels are available to the troops for their reading pleasure (the latest novel should be up soon, so you can check it out the deets!) I will continue to support the program and would hope if you know someone fighting in a foreign land, and they enjoy a good book, that you will pass along the info. So, I will leave you for now, but again I want to wish all my fellow Veterans out there a GREAT VETERANS DAY!!

Operation eBook Drop

ebookdropRecently,  I came across a posting on the blog for Smashwords (an eBook publisher and distributor) that I thought was really great.  Smashwords teamed up with authors to donate copies of their ebooks to deployed U.S. soldiers.  Since the program began a few months ago, it has grown from just a handful of books available only on Kindle to a host ebooks available for the troops for different ebook readers, computers, and some phones.

I strongly support this initiative and am donating 150 copies of my books.  I hope that all authors with ebooks available will help out!  If you’d like more information, you can visit the Operation eBook Drop web page.
